Taking Flight

On the 2nd of September, we headed out to fly the S1000+ for the first time.  After doing  some last minute setup and our final checks we were ready to fly.  Unfortunately, the firmware update we had done earlier had reset the settings on the S1000+ causing it to flip on takeoff.  After fixing this problem and replacing the parts broken in the crash, we were ready to try again.  This time, we took off successfully and hovered a few feet off the ground.  We then landed and removed the tether before performing two more flights, the highest reaching a altitude of 60 maters (200 feet).   Below is the footage of the flights compiled into a single video.

Over the next few weeks, we will be building the test payload and preparing for future tests.
